Authentic Brands Group, which owns Juicy Couture, has announced that it is putting into place a “renewed strategy to galvanise momentum in the UK”, in which it states is a “key” European fashion market for the brand.

Juicy Couture is currently experiencing a “notable growth spurt” in the UK, said Authentic Brands Group, which is at the centre of its new remit to place further emphasis on its wholesale, concession, and e-commerce businesses in the country.

To assist with the new strategy, Authentic Brands Group is to handing over the management of the UK business to Hong Kong-based Global Brands Group, Juicy Couture’s largest global partner for fashion, footwear, and accessories, while the brand’s business in Greece, Cyprus, Romania and Bulgaria will remain under the management of Folli Follie which it added brings a significant expertise to that region.

“In conjunction with our brand partners Authentic Brands Group has employed a concentrated, long-term effort to refresh and revive the brand for Juicy girls around the world,” said Nick Woodhouse, president and CMO of Authentic Brands Group. “Our efforts are paying off as Juicy Couture has experienced growth in all aspects of the brand including points of sale, number and strength of licensing partners, social media reach and engagement, and A-list taste-maker support. We are excited to join forces with our partners to fuel growth for the brand in the UK.”

Global Brands Group to take over management of Juicy Couture in the UK

The move comes as Juicy Couture’s owner Authentic Brands Group announced that it would be closing a “handful” of standalone stores, while adding that new retail locations and formats are planned in the UK, as well as around the world.

Currently in the UK, Juicy Couture has two stores in the London, one on Regent Street and another in Westfield White City, in addition to an outlet at Bicester and a store at Bluewater, it is also sold at major retailers including Topshop, Urban Outfitters, Amazon, Asos, Selfridges, and Harrods. With a renewed strategy on wholesale the brand could be looking to increase its reach with further retailers, as well as push its own e-commerce platform.

Globally, Juicy Couture is available in more than 25,000 points of sale in 94 countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, across key women’s and girls’ lifestyle categories including apparel, accessories, jewellery, footwear, and fragrance.

Authentic Brands Group acquired Juicy Couture four years ago for 195 million dollars, however, the licensing company is best known for its celebrity brands, such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, as well as fashion brands such as Jones New York, Judith Leiber and Airwalk.
