Luxury fashion retailer Matchesfashion.com is set to relocate its London headquarters from Clapham Common to the Shard during the first half of the year, ahead of its international expansion push.

“As we enter 2016 there is great momentum around Matchesfashion.com," said Tom Chapman, co-founder and co-executive chairman in a statement. "In our 28 years in luxury Ruth and I have never felt more inspired about the opportunities ahead – marked by this move to The Shard, the peak of London’s iconic skyline. As we continue to expand globally we will have London as our backdrop in this emerging hub of e-commerce and technology."

Part of the reason behind the move is space: the new headoffice offers 35,000 square feet of space on the seventh and eighth floors of the Shard, more than double the amount the retailer holds at its current location. 300 of Matchesfashion.com 500 members of staff will be based in the new location, bringing together the retaile's five London office. The space will be shared with famed jeweller Tiffany & Co. and law firm GTM.

"Matchesfashion.com is a highly-respected and progressive fashion company which has enjoyed significant growth in recent years," added Irvine Selled, developer at the Shard. "It joins a host of industry leaders from a diverse array of business sectors that have been drawn to the Shard to join an energetic and sustainable business eco-system that promotes future growth."

Matchesfashion.come currently operates four stores in London, as well as its online platform which offers its curated portfolio of brands to customers 176 countries. The luxury retailer aims to triple its current sales to hit 425 million pounds by 2019.
