Womenswear brand Nougat London has called in administrators after blaming a “downturn” in business.

Administrators Zolfo Cooper, which were appointed on November 21, stating that the fashion brand had been impacted by “a downturn in trade amid challenging market conditions”.

It also added that Nougat London, which trades under the brand name Nougat, Havren, Nougat Bath and Body and NGT for men, would continue to trade while options for a sale of all or part of the business are explored.

Founded in 1990, the fashion label is sold online and through concessions in big department stores, however the warm autumn weather and heavy discounting over the past few months is thought to have been the brands downfall.

Claire Winder, director at Zolfo Cooper, said: “We have reviewed the options for the company with the directors and, unfortunately, poor trading performance means that the business is not able to continue trading in its current form.

“The Administration will provide some time to allow a sale process to be undertaken. Nougat and Havren are strong brands and we expect there to be considerable interest in acquiring them.”
