Skechers moves UK headquarters

American footwear brand Skechers has moved its UK headquarters from Potters Bar to St Albans in Hertfordshire, to cope with the increased growth in its business.

Sketchers have taken a 17,500 square foot office space on the Centrium Business Park in Griffiths Way in St Albans, which will house the brand’s UK and Ireland offices, as well as having product showrooms for men’s, women’s and children’s ranges. It will house around 50 people.

The new headquarters was opened by Kelly Brook, Sugar Ray Leonard and Charlie Webster, who all feature in Skechers promotional campaigns, as well as host of representatives from St Albans including Mayor Cllr Frances Leonard, St Albans City FC boss Lawrence Levy, Maltings Shopping Centre manager Phil Corrigan and Chamber of Commerce executive director Lisa Bates.

UK managing director Pete Youell said: “I think in the last five to six years, we’ve sort of exploded. We are one of the Top 10 footwear brands in the region now by turnover.

“We are proud to call St Albans our new home and we looking forward to inviting all our clients to visit our new amazing showroom in this unique English Cathedral city.”

Skechers currently operates 43 standalone, and plans to open a flagship store on Oxford Street in November, the store will span around 1,800 square feet and will be the first t sell Skechers apparel. In addition, the brand will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year.
