London - Thomas Gibb, vice president of product development for Stuart Weitzman has filed a lawsuit against Tapestry Inc, owner of Stuart Weitzman following allegations of sexual harassment by former creative director Giovanni Morelli.
The executive claimed in a lawsuit filed in a Manhattan state court earlier this week that he endured "numerous unwanted touchings and endless comments" from Morelli, and that his behaviour continued in spite of a complaint to human resources, according to Bloomberg.
A company spokesperson confirmed that Tapestry Inc launched its own investigation after Gibb's lawyers contacted its general counsel on May 15, which ultimately lead to Morelli's resignation on May 21.
The lawsuit, which names Morelli and Tapesty Inc as codefendants, comes a week after Tapesty Inc announced the departure of Morelli. "While we greatly admire Giovanni’s creative talents, Tapestry is committed to an environment where every individual feels respected and at times his behavior fell short of these standards," said Victor Luis, Chief Executive Officer of Tapestry Inc in a statement.
