Tesco predicts Black Friday sales to exceed Boxing Day sales for the first time

Tesco predicts that sales on Black Friday will surpass sales on Boxing Day, traditionally one of the biggest shopping days of the year for the first time.

UK's largest retailer is confident it will win shoppers over, despite the negative publicity the company has received after its recent financial black hole, by offering discounts of up 70 percent.

The company aims to slash prices from a number of products ranging from toys to DIY and electrical goods, offering price cuts of more than 15 million pounds during the Black Friday weekend.

“Black Friday now marks the real start of Christmas shopping and Tesco is recognising this with its Black Friday sale in-store and online,” commented Rob Hattrell, General Merchandise Director for Tesco.

The retailer also predicts a boom in its click-and-collect services during the promotional offer, with Hattrell adding: “We expect that over two thirds of those snapping up a Black Friday bargain online will choose a click and collect option for delivery.”
