London - American fashion retailer C. Wonder might have closed its doors earlier this year but it looks like the brand has been given a second chance as Xcel Brands has confirmed that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the C. Wonder brand.
The brand development and management company will take ownership of the company founded by billionaire Chris Burch and known or its preppy aesthetics, including its intellectual property rights, trademarks and related designs.
Xcel said in a statement that the acquisition was subject to board approval and customary closing conditions. It added that further information on its plans for the C. Wonder brand would be revealed following its completion of the transaction.
Xcel was founded by Robert W. D'Loren in 2011 and owns the Isaac Mizrahi, Judith Ripka, H by Halston and H Halston brands, and designs and manages the Liz Claiborne New York brand.
