Zalando has chosen the Portuguese capital to launch its new technology hub, where a team of 60 employees is set to work on enhancing the e-tailer’s digital experience in the 17 markets where it operates. This is the fourth office of this kind for Zalando: it also holds technology hubs in Germany, Helsinki and Dublin.

“The reason we’ve come to Lisbon is quite simple: as Zalando grows, we need to go where the talent is. Lisbon hosts an excellent tech ecosystem. It allows us to attract the talent we need to enhance the shopping experience for our customers”, said Marc Lamik, Managing Director of Zalando Digital Portugal, in a statement published on the company’s website.

16 employees have been hired to work at the Lisbon hub so far, including product managers, UX designers, and engineers. Zalando aims to grow the team to 35 people until the end of 2018. The recruitment of the remaining team members is still ongoing, with the company actively seeking frontend software engineers and full stack engineers.

Job applicants can see the open vacancies at Zalando’s new Lisbon hub at the career page within the company’s website.
