Tommy Hilfiger is set to publish a memoir with Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House, which chronicles his personal stories, his past and his rise within the fashion industry.

“Reflecting on my experiences in the fashion industry over the last 30-plus years has been a wild ride, filled with milestone moments that have defined both my career and personal life,” said Hilfiger in a press statement. “I always believe the best is yet to come, but so far: it’s been the adventure of a lifetime.”

Hilfiger is known for his classic, 'all-American' sense of style, which brings together the preppy and East Coast lifestyle which his label has become renowned for. He first launched his eponymous label in 1985, and the label rapidly expanded to include women's wear, accessories, a denim range, children's wear, as well as fragrance and home wear.

Later on in the early 1990s, he went on to become one of the first designers to bring together the fashion and music industries, by sponsoring tours for artists like Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie and Beyonce. The Council of Fashion Designers of America honored his work within the fashion industry in 2012, by awarding him with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

The memoir's publication is scheduled for Autumn 2015, to coincidence with the 30th anniversary of the Tommy Hilfiger brand. “I'm thrilled to publish Tommy’s personal story,” said Jennifer Tung, Editorial Director for non-fiction at Ballantine Books.

“After three decades in the business, he’s never lost his curiosity or entrepreneurial spirit. Now he’s ready to reveal the man behind the brand and share his wisdom with readers of all generations.”
