Nick Knight and Showstudio.com have been hired by Veuve Clicquot to curate a new experience in time for Halloween, which pays homage to the brand's famous widow, Madame Clicquot.

The project, which is part of the French Champagne's Widow Series, includes the opening of a new exhibition entitled "A Beautiful Darkness" at Central Saint Martins former campus in Holborn. The Halloween inspired exhibition, set to open on October 29, includes five fashion films, as well as illustrations, live performances, dancing and champagne tasting experience inside haunted version of former CSM building.

"I wanted to do sort of a fashion film on horror because I think the language of horror is interesting," said Knight to WWD in an interview. "I think it is interesting that we can pay to go to a cinema, but when it comes to fashion, everybody is very safe in sort of a non creative way. And I just couldn’t work out why there is such a great language between those two things. You can go to a cinema and see a man’s head torn off and that’s fine. Try and do that in a fashion magazine and people get very upset."

The exhibition, set to take place by candlelight to encourage the audience to get up close to the works, includes work by 22 artists such as Amanda Harlech, Gareth Pugh and taxidermist Rose Robson. Knight also tapped Ellie Grace Cummings, fashion editor at Another magazine to curate the exhibition illustrations. "You see how people interpret the clothes in different ways. With illustration it’s freer and it’s within the context of a beautiful darkness," added Cummings.

"And also an illustrator has no ties to the designer, no ties to the brand. No ties to a magazine. So it’s completely free expression of how they view and how they see the collection, which is quite remarkable and unique."
