Make it British, the trade organisation behind the annual trade show Meet the Manufacturer, is set to launch a new forum in association with the UK Fashion and Textile Association as part of the Leicester Business Festival to support brands manufacturing in the UK.

The one day conference, which will take place on October 26 at De Montfort University, will offer designers and business owners the information and tools needed to develop a Made in the UK brand. The forum is set to follow on from the success of Meet the Manufacturer by offering brands and designer the support they need. “We know from the success of our Meet the Manufacturer event that there is a huge appetite from the fashion and textile sector to find out more about manufacturing in the UK,” said Kate Hills, founder and CEO of Make it British on the reason behind the forum launch.

“This one day event will provide answers to many of the questions around product development and promotion that we are frequently asked by businesses wishing to grow brands with a ‘Made in Britain’ label. We are delighted to be hosting the conference as part of The Leicester Business Festival in a region of the country traditionally known for textile manufacturing, and to have the opportunity to be the first public event to be held in the new art and design faculty at De Montfort University is amazing.”

The new forum will be the first public event to take place at De Montfort University new centre, which is part of the 136 million pounds campus transformation initiative in the centre of Leicester. The Make it British forum will also feature a step-by-step guild on how to create a strong British brand and cover all aspects of design, branding, manufacturing and marketing. It will be open to all designers, buyers, fashion students and UK manufacturers.
