Raf Simons has made a major announcement that has Pitti Uomo fans on the edge of their seats. The former creative director for Dior will be returning to Pitti Uomo with his eponymous label for Pitti Imagine Uomo 90 to present FLORENCE CALLING: RAF SIMONS. The event will celebrate not only his contemporary fashion offerings, but, also, his return to Italy's new growing fashion capital.

Currently, details about the event taking place from June 14 to 17 are very limited. Russian designer Gosha Rubchinsky will also be showing his spring/summer 2017 collection as a "guest designer."

Raf Simons to show eponymous label at Pitti Uomo

“Florence holds a special place in my heart as, over the years, I have regularly come back to show my work or to collaborate on ventures that closely mirrored my thoughts about it,” said Simons to Dazed, speaking on his decision to show at Pitti instead Paris Men’s Fashion Week. “I am thrilled to be there again this season to present my SS collection as well as a special project we are developing especially for Pitti.”

Simons hasn't been a major figure at Pitti Uomo since 2003 when he worked with Francesco Bonami to curate "The Fourth Sex" exhibition. The last time Simons made headlines in Florence was in 2005 when he celebrated the tenth anniversary of his label with a show, video installation, and book.

The designer's most recent collection for autumn/winter 2016 was inspired by cult film director David Lynch. As for what Simons will be putting on display for us at Pitti Uomo, we'll have to wait until June to find out.
