The London Textile Fair, which took place from January 13-14 at London's Business Design Centre, has attracted around 6,000 visits from 60 countries over the two days.
This is an increase from the July 2015 show, which recorded 5,000 visitors. The event organisers called the numbers “excellent” and said that the results confirmed it is becoming the leading textile trade show in the UK.
These figures mark the highest number of visitors since The London Textile Fair started ten years ago, and the January edition also attracted an increase in European and international buyers, helped by exhibitors representing countries including Italy, Turkey, and Portugal.
However, the post-show review revealed that the majority of visitors, 86 percent, were still British professionals, with buyers from Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Beckham, Next, Marks and Spencer, Topshop, Calvin Klein, Debenhams, Zara, MaxMara and Stella McCartney in attendance.
The January edition featured 400 exhibitors, 95 percent of which had rebooked from the previous edition, and they exhibited over four halls - textiles, accessories, print studios and vintage clothes.
75 percent of the exhibitors were represented by textile and accessory manufacturers, however, the print studios, which has a strong UK presence (80 percent) and the vintage clothes halls are increasing in popularity within the show the organisers stated.
