Ecco turns Receptor technology into gallery experience at Copenhagen Fashion Week

Danish footwear brand Ecco has opened 'Walk Between Worlds', a gallery experience built around its Receptor technology, during Copenhagen Fashion Week, according to a press release. Running on Bredgade from 5 to 7 August, the exhibition explores the contrast between city and nature through a multi-sensory setup that includes contrasting terrain, a commissioned soundscape and curated product displays.

Receptor technology was first introduced in 2000 and developed with biomechanists at the University of Copenhagen to support the foot through each phase of a natural step, with a focus on stability, comfort and smooth transitions. More than 25 years on, it still underpins the brand's footwear, and the latest Receptor XP collection brings that heritage into a contemporary context, pairing outdoor performance with everyday style.

Visitors can pick up curated walking routes that link Copenhagen's streets with the surrounding green spaces, and an Instagram prize draw offers the chance to win a walking trip based on the exhibition's theme. The show also brings together, for the first time in one space, the Ecco.Kollektive Receptor designs by Natacha Ramsay-Levi, Craig Green and Yosuke Aizawa of White Mountaineering, each of whom has reinterpreted the silhouette in their own style.

"Receptor has always represented movement, stability and thoughtful design," said Ezra Martin, chief marketing officer at Ecco, adding that the exhibition brings the philosophy behind the technology to life while showing how the brand's design heritage continues to evolve through collaborations.

'Walk Between Worlds' runs at Bredgade 25A in Copenhagen from 5 to 7 August 2026, daily from 12:00 to 18:00.
