Japanese fastener manufacturer YKK will present fastening products designed for repair and recycling at the Textile Exchange Conference 2026. The event takes place at the Vancouver Convention Center in Canada from October 12 to 16, with the main sessions running from October 13 to 15.

It is the second consecutive year that YKK is exhibiting at the conference, which is organised by Textile Exchange, an international non-profit that promotes climate action and resource circularity in the fashion and textile industries. YKK has been a member of the organisation since September 2020.

At its stand, YKK will focus on three areas. Its 'Revived' renewal components are replacement parts intended to extend the life of garments through repair, while the Natulon and Natulon Fiber Sourced ranges use components with recycled content. For fibre-to-fibre recycling, the company will show Natulon Plus with open parts made from recycled PET.

The company will also present the initiatives that fall under its 'YKK Sustainability Vision 2050', and said it aims to use the conference to strengthen collaboration with brands and supply chain partners.

Recycled polyester share reaches 50 percent

YKK is also a participant in the Recycled Polyester Challenge, an industry initiative co-hosted by Textile Exchange and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change through its Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. Participating companies committed to sourcing between 45 and 100 percent of their polyester from recycled materials by fiscal 2025.

According to YKK, recycled polyester already accounted for at least 45 percent of its polyester use in fiscal 2024, rising to 50 percent in fiscal 2025. The company said it will continue to increase that share across its products.
