British luxury house Burberry has partnered with fellow British heritage brand Smythson for the first time. The two companies have created a collection of leather notebooks and travel games, which launches in October ahead of the festive season.
The collaboration pairs signature Burberry designs with Smythson's expertise in fine leather craftsmanship and traditional bookbinding. According to the brands, they share a commitment to craftsmanship, innovation and timeless design.
Founded on London's New Bond Street in 1887, Smythson has been producing fine stationery and leather goods for almost 140 years. The company created the world's first portable diary in 1908 and supplied stationery to each of Queen Victoria's residences in the 1890s.
Like Burberry, Smythson has roots in exploration. In the 1970s, it made bespoke diaries and logbooks for the Transglobe Expedition, led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Charles R. Burton and Oliver Shepard.
Notebooks handmade in Hertfordshire
The notebook covers carry playful illustrations and typically British phrases that draw on Burberry themes such as weather, exploration and the great outdoors. Inside, the pages use Smythson's signature blue Featherweight paper.
The opening and closing pages feature either a tonal London map print, inspired by Burberry's winter 2026 runway collection, or the House Check, one of Burberry's most recognisable signatures. All notebooks are made by hand in Smythson's bookbinding workshop in Hertfordshire.
Travel games in Panama crossgrain leather
The games include playing card sets as well as roll-up chess and backgammon boards, designed to be played at home or while travelling. They are made from Smythson's Panama crossgrain leather, with a smooth leather interior and secure zip-pocket compartments lined in House Check.
The playing cards come in leather travel cases and feature gilt-edged illustrated cards. A double-pack edition also contains Smythson's Wafer pencil and a notepad in Featherweight paper for keeping score.
Every piece in the collection can be personalised free of charge, with up to three initials stamped in gold.
