Carhartt spotlights Iconic B01, work trouser with roots in the 1930s

American workwear brand Carhartt, founded in Detroit in 1889, is putting renewed focus on its Iconic B01. The pant's design dates back to the 1930s, when it was developed for laborers and farmers. Its signature feature is the 'double front,' a reinforcement made from a second layer of heavy-duty fabric that originated purely from functionality and has since become a recognisable part of the Carhartt look.

The current B01's relaxed fit adds extra room through the seat and thigh and sits slightly below the natural waist, keeping the pant comfortable during work that involves a lot of kneeling, bending or reaching. The straight, wide leg opening fits easily over work boots.

The trouser is made from 100 percent cotton in 12 oz Firm Duck fabric (407 gsm), a heavy, tightly woven material known for its durability that molds to the body over time without losing its rugged character.

Functional details include two slanted front pockets, a hidden coin pocket, tool pockets on both legs, a hammer loop on the left leg, reinforced back pockets, triple-stitched main seams and a heavy-duty hem finish.
