ACG, Nike's outdoor footwear and apparel line, introduces Picklejus, a high-mountain trail running shoe featuring Goatek, its proprietary traction platform, according to a press release. It is the first ACG footwear innovation developed through the Nike Sport Research Lab. The shoe was also tested in competition by athletes from the All Conditions Racing team before its official launch.

The design emerged from three years of conversations with trail athletes competing in Chamonix. From these discussions, the team identified three recurring needs: efficiency on ascents; protection on descents; and confidence on changing terrain. The final result is supported by ten research studies and 20 prototypes, tested by more than 100 athletes.

The midsole combines two ZoomX compounds in a co-moulded, dual-density supercritical foam platform, featuring a soft core for cushioning and a firmer perimeter ring for stability. The upper is made of trail-optimised Flyknit with adaptive support cables and hydrophobic yarns. It also includes a gaiter-inspired cuff to prevent debris from entering.

The Goatek outsole provides 45 percent more traction on wet surfaces and 25 percent more abrasion resistance compared to previous ACG systems. This follows five rounds of wear testing, totalling more than 18,000 miles on mountainous terrain.

According to Shea Aquilano of the All Conditions Racing team, the design allows her to focus on the race without worrying about protecting her feet and legs. Emily Farina, senior director of running footwear at the Nike Sport Research Lab, noted that the development required close collaboration between the lab, product teams and ACG athletes to achieve efficiency and protection without compromise.

The ACG Picklejus will be available in late 2027 at selected retailers.
