Tiger of Sweden showcases Fall Winter 2023 during Paris Fashion Week under the creative direction of Bryan Conway. With deep roots in craftsmanship and heritage, Paris Fashion Week offers the perfect international stage to showcase the latest collection and marks the first time for the brand to do so.
This year marks 120 years since the founding of Tiger of Sweden. Since the brand was born in 1903, Tiger of Sweden has continued to evolve over the years, and it is this passage of time, the changing nature of the brand itself and that of Swedish society that is the collection's focus. Reelections on time and spaces that have occupied this period and the institutions that have shaped us.
Inspired by two of the most culturally significant institutions in Stockholm, the Royal Palace and Kulturhuset, one of Northern Europe's largest cultural institutions, the collection explores the paradigm shifts in thinking and ideas. One building, monolithic, physically imposing, and enclosed, treasures hidden within the walls. The other sliced open, an invitation for all to come in.
The collection blends innovative layering, oversized tailoring, and an incisive focus on materiality – championing unique textures in glossy vinyl, reimagined leather, and patterned wool.
This season's colour story is awash with neutral tones of dark ink, ocean grey and coffee, which sit next to vibrant contrasts of fresh cherry and rust orange. Colour combinations lend themselves to experimentation and embrace the exploration of contrast in mood and colour. Expressive prints come courtesy of geometric forms with checkerboard and vector prints adding depth to traditional silhouettes.
Profile pieces include a dark honey monochrome suit, a tailored leather coat in menswear, and a tactile vinyl dress in womenswear. Fall Winter footwear celebrates archival archetypes propelling iconic wardrobe staples into a new era whilst also creating bold seasonal staples – complementing the past but rendering a fresh contemporary approach.
Shot in Stockholm by renowned photographer Eddie Whelan, the Fall Winter 2023 campaign captures both professional and street cast models with Tiger of Sweden employees against artistic backdrops inspired by the Swedish Royal Palace and Kulturhuset.
The Swedish Royal Palace is not only the centre of power but also the forum for the exchange of ideas, art and culture throughout history, and its legacy is still physically imposing in the heart of Stockholm, even if power and the exchange of ideas have moved on.
Kulturhuset, designed by Peter Celsing in 1965, was commissioned to represent the progressive aims of a society looking into the future, a new way of thinking, bringing the exchange of ideas and culture to the wider society.
Akin to the progression of the Royal Palace and Kulturhuset, the knowledge accrued by Tiger of Sweden over 120 years has allowed the brand to design for modernity and adaptability – championing traditional brand codes but absorbing the cultural currency to create new ways of design.
