Japanese footwear and lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger has opened a new flagship store near Nagoya Station, which the company says is its second-largest store by floor area in Japan.
The opening, on August 7, 2026, follows the debut of what Onitsuka Tiger describes as its largest global flagship store, which opened in Tokyo's Shinjuku district in July 2026. The brand said it chose Nagoya as a new key location for the Tokai and Chubu regions, citing the area around Nagoya Station as a gateway for visitors from Aichi Prefecture and neighbouring Gifu, Mie and Shizuoka prefectures, as well as from further afield in Japan and overseas.
The store, spread across two floors, brings together Onitsuka Tiger's full brand portfolio: Heritage, which reinterprets the brand's archives; Contemporary, which showcases collections shown at Milan Fashion Week under the Onitsuka Tiger name; and Formality, featuring formal footwear from its The Onitsuka line.
The interior was designed by Studio Dini Cataldi, a Milan-based architecture firm founded by Filippo Dini and Gianluca Cataldi, and draws on Nagoya's industrial heritage and cultural character. Across its two floors, the store is built around combinations of materials, precision, rhythm and contemporary expression, according to the brand.
The first floor is designed as an open, fluid space, using terrazzo and steel as a backdrop intended to keep the focus on the products. Overhead, lighting boxes inspired by traditional Japanese andon lanterns create a play of light and shadow. The second floor has a more intimate, serene feel, built around Rosso Lepanto marble combined with steel, with marble surfaces doubling as product displays.
Onitsuka Tiger frames the Nagoya opening as part of a broader push to have its stores communicate the brand's values and history to visitors, alongside its products. Onitsuka Tiger Nagoya is located at 1-2F 4-8-18 Meieki, Nakamura-ku, and is open from 11:00 to 20:00.
