Japanese retailer Uniqlo will open its first store in Wales in fall 2027. The store will be located in St David's shopping centre in Cardiff, owned by British property group Landsec.
The unit will offer around 940 square metres of sales floor across two floors. It will carry the full LifeWear range for men, women, kids and babies, the brand's line of everyday basics focused on quality, comfort and function.
Uniqlo currently operates 26 stores in the UK. Cardiff is one of several openings planned for 2027, alongside new stores in Bath, Brighton, Leeds and Canary Wharf.
"Cardiff is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage, and with an existing base of Welsh customers already shopping with us online, we are delighted to bring the Uniqlo experience closer to them," said Alessandro Dudech, chief operating officer of Uniqlo UK.
Momentum at St David's
For Landsec, the deal builds on an existing relationship with the retailer across its wider portfolio. The landlord says footfall at St David's continues to grow and that it is investing in the centre to attract more international brands.
"The brand's high-quality fashion and unique in-store experience has broad generational appeal and will bring something new to Cardiff's retail offer," said Clare Dutton, portfolio director at Landsec. "Uniqlo's arrival builds on the investment we're making in St David's and our focus on bringing new brands and experiences to the centre."
Uniqlo is part of Japanese group Fast Retailing, which also owns brands including GU, Theory and Comptoir des Cotonniers.
