The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is continuing to promote its American designers in the Asian market after signing a partnership with Singapore Fashion Week, which runs from May 13 to 17.

The partnership will see several American designers taking to the catwalk, with president of the CFDA Diane von Furstenberg staging the first fashion show on the opening day, followed by Thakoon Panichgul who will also present his autumn/winter 2015 collection on May 16.

Commenting on the partnership, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, said: "The partnership with Singapore Fashion Week is another element in the CFDA’s mission to strengthen the influence and success of American Fashion Designers in the global economy.

“The program will not just bring our designers to an important market, but also educate Singapore’s local talent about the American industry."

In addition, Singapore Fashion Week will also host British designer Victoria Beckham, who is flying in specially to stage her own catwalk show. Other designers featuring at SFW include Dion Lee, Ong Shunmugam, and Dzojchen.

In previous editions of SFW, designers including Erdem, Roberto Cavalli, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen and Roland Mouret have participated alongside leading Asian designers.
