Total John Lewis sales for the week ending May 13 were up 3.3 percent on last year, driven by customers buying products for the warm weather. Fashion sales were up 7.4 percent with sales of menswear up 10.4 percent and sales of womenswear were up 9.3 percent.
Increase in fashion sales, the company said, was due to customers buying clothing for the warmer weather and taking advantage of price matches on competitor promotions. Sales of linen garments jumped 108 percent on the same week last year.
