New Miu Miu Women's Tales chapter entrusted to director Claire Denis

Miu Miu has announced that French screenwriter and director Claire Denis will direct the 32nd chapter of the Miu Miu Women's Tales film series. This episode, titled “Avec Kim”, will premiere on September 5, 2026, during the Giornate degli Autori at the Venice Film Festival.

Born in Paris in 1946, Claire Denis (now 80 years old) spent much of her childhood in colonial French Africa, an experience that has shaped her work. Her work is often described as cinema of the body, characterised by a sensual and elliptical style. The director explores themes such as desire, alienation and race, through a blend of narrative and abstraction.

She gained international recognition with films such as Chocolat released in 1988, Beau Travail in 1999 and 35 Shots of Rum in 2008. More recently, she has continued to innovate with High Life in 2018 and Stars at Noon, which won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2022. Her latest feature film, The Fence, was released in 2025. She was also awarded the Carrosse d'Or during the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes in 2026.

Regarding her creative process, the director stated in a press release from the Italian label: “When I make a film, if I don't feel anything in my body, I can't work. I have to touch. I have to feel”.

The Miu Miu Women's Tales project spans 16 years and now includes 32 unique episodes, making it the longest-running commissioning platform for short films directed by women. Each episode highlights the unique imagination of women, allowing the brand to engage with subjects of female emancipation and authentic artistic creation. This cultural elevation strategy helps to build loyalty among a clientele of buyers and tastemakers seeking a rich and intellectual brand narrative.
