Ad nauseam: M&S Lily Cole ads
loading...
Is it just us or are the new M&S ads featuring a glum looking Lily Cole just a little dull? Considering the ongoing press releases the High Street conglomerate churns out regarding revamping, re-styling and re-injecting trend-led fashion into its womenswear, its latest adverts are anything but.
Picture Lily Cole in an oversized white shirt worn underneath an extra long sleeveless cardigan, you know, the one worn to hide a multitude of sins. Granted, it's a practical wardrobe staple, but hardly one that makes a fashion statement, especially as being a key piece in Marks & Spencer's Limited Collection. Teamed with leggings and a sensible shoe, it's far removed from covetable high street glamour, nor is it likely to cause queues outside its Oxford Street flagship.
And then there's Lily in the Tribal Dress. Not the most flattering cut, even for a model with a near perfect body. What strikes us odd is that Lily models several great pieces on the M&S website, such as the ultra violet dress and City Chic look.
Perhaps M&S just wasn't inspired on the day it chose which shots to feature in its ads. We say don't let the magazine campaign put you off, there's a lot more in offer in store than on paper.
