London - Alexander McQueen has been named the coolest fashion design brand in the ‘cool brands 2015’ list by an expert of council of influencers.
The British fashion house, under the creative direction of Sarah Burton, was ranked the sixth most desirable brand overall in the UK, two places higher than French fashion house Chanel, who were ranked eighth overall.
The accolade in part is thanks to the success of the V&A’s sold-out, record-breaking exhibition, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, which celebrated the late designer’s work, as it helped the fashion house rise seven places in the ranking from last year, as well as being named the coolest fashion design brand.
The list was once again topped by tech giant Apple, they retained the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, while sunglasses brand Ray-Ban were ranked second and Glastonbury Festival claimed the third spot, while Nike and Netflix, took the fourth and fifth place slots.

The top twenty also listed photo-sharing network Instagram in seventh place, sportswear giant Adidas in 18th, while Liberty claimed the 20th spot and the highest placed retailer.
There was also success for Jimmy Choo, which was named the coolest footwear brand, Net-a-Porter took the fashion retail crown, while Agent Provocateur were honoured as the coolest lingerie and nightwear brand.
Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the CoolBrands Council, said: "Attaining Top 20 CoolBrands status takes time. Young brands, however, like Netflix and Instagram, are showing clear momentum.”
The list is compiled based on the opinion of 2,500 consumers and a judging panel of 36 key influencers, which this year included British Fashion Council chief executive Caroline Rush, and fashion designers Julien MacDonald and Melissa Odabash, who all looked at the brands’ authenticity, desirability, innovation, and originality.
