Andrew Ramroop wins Black British Business award

Creative director and master tailor at bespoke Savile Row institution Maurice Sedwell, Andrew Ramroop has been named the BBB Person of 2017 at the annual Black British Business Awards.
The Black British Business Awards, founded by Melanie Eusebe and Sophie Chandauka, celebrates and promotes the significant contribution by black professionals and entrepreneurs across the UK.
Now in its fourth year, the Awards recognise established leaders and rising stars across business, including financial services, consumer and luxury, professional services, STEM industries, arts and media, and entrepreneurs.
Ramroop, who is famous for designing several suits for Princess Diana, including the jacket she wore for her Panorama interview of 1995, was recognised as business person of the year for his work as master tailor and owner of Savile Row institution Maurice Sedwell, the firm which offered him his first apprenticeship in the Seventies.
Other winners included Sandra Federighi, global chief financial officer at Stella McCartney, who was recognised as Consumer and Luxury Leader of the Year, for her fashion career as well as her foundation for young black and minority ethnic talent who want to enter the Fashion industry, while AMWA Designs founder and creative director, Chrissa Amuah was awarded the Consumer and Luxury Rising Star award for her handmade textiles and print designs.
