British e-tailer Asos and the Centre for Sustainable Fashion at the London College of Fashion (LCF) have joined forces to develop a course on circular fashion for the company’s design team.

The training, which started earlier this month, includes a series of half-day workshops, discussions and drop-in sessions which will teach the participants to design clothes considering the whole product lifecycle. A total of 15 Asos employees are participating of the pilot, according to a statement published on LCF’s website.

”With this pilot we’re making sure our designers have the knowledge and skills they need to put sustainability and circularity into practice”, said Vanessa Spence, design director at Asos, in the statement. She added that the aim of the programme is to ensure products are made responsibly and remain in use for as long as possible once they are sold.

The results of the pilot will then be used to refine and amplify future trainings on sustainability within the company.
