Aspinal of London teams up with Michelle Dockery

British actress Michelle Dockery, best known for playing Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey, has created a line of ladylike handbags and scarves with Aspinal of London, which were unveiled at the brand’s London Fashion Week presentation.

The Dockery Collection features a vintage-looking handbag, which comes in two silhouettes, both of which comes in small and large sizes, with nine colourways to choose from, with a range of smooth and embossed leathers. The collection has been inspired by a bag owned by the actresses grandmother.

Michelle Dockery said: “To me, Aspinal evokes a sense of British heritage and to collaborate with them on our new collection has been a wonderfully creative experience.

“I am trilled to see the collection in its entirety and I hope that others will take as much pleasure in owning them as we had in creating them.”

The standout piece is The Dockery, combining traditional craftsmanship with a modern silhouette that is accented by polished gold hardware with a top handle. The bag has a handmade solid brass and aluminium mechanism, which opens and closes with a nostalgic click. The grosgrain lined interior has two separate compartments with one zipped pocket and a slip in mobile phone pocket.

This is complemented with the Dockery Snap Bag, which is similar in shape and proportions, but has a top leather bag-frame that conveniently opens and closes with a firm, magnetic snap.

The colours of the bags range from dusty pink to a statement peacock blue, and Aspinal’s iconic deep shine Bordeaux and jet black vintage croc.

The Dockery collection is available to buy now, the signature The Dockery ranges is 795 pounds for the small and 950 pounds for the large, while the Dockery Snap Bag starts at 495 pounds for the small up to 750 pounds for the large.
