The Editor of Harper's Bazaar, Lucy Yeomans, has been appointed as chairman of the British Fashion Council's press committee. The press committee comprises leading fashion directors, fashion editors and creative directors from British broadsheet newspapers and leading fashion magazines. The chairman brings together the independent voices of the press committee to advice on a wide variety of subjects such as the organisation of London Fashion Week and lending expertise to advisory panels for the selection of designers to show at London Fashion Week both on the catwalk and in the exhibition. The press committee also plays a key role in proposing and voting for the long and short list of nominees for the annual British Fashion Awards.

“Now is an interesting time for London and its designers. London has a unique position on the fashion calendar, international press and buyers are excited by the design talent here and both retail and publishing need that energy and excitement to provide a point of difference in their stores or magazines", Lucy Yeomans commented.

Lucy Yeomans takes over from Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue, who became chairman in 2005 and supported the BFC in bringing international names such as Armani and Marc Jacobs to London’s catwalks as well as the return of Luella and Matthew Williamson.
