A newly created award at Graduate Fashion Week will be introduced this year. The British Fashion Council shall sponsor the ‘Creative Cutting Award’, which will focus on awarding those students with outstanding technical prowess in the art of cutting.
Hilary Riva, Chief Executive of the BFC said: "The British Fashion Council is delighted to sponsor a new Graduate Fashion Week award for Creative Cutting. Many designers, including Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan, established their reputations as leading British designers through combining creativity with technical expertise. In sponsoring this award, we recognise the technical role as an integral part of design and applaud our design colleges for continuing to produce the most creative and technically talented designers and pattern cutters - the future stars of London Fashion Week."
Graduate Fashion Week celebrates the work of more than 1,000 BA Degree fashion students from 49 member universities across the UK. The event is sponsored for the fourth year by high street fashion brand River Island. Graduate Fashion Week takes place at Earl Court from June 8th-12th.
