The British Fashion Council’s annual British Fashion Awards will honour photographer Nick Knight with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator for his “outstanding contribution” to the global fashion industry.

Knight will receive his award at the British Fashion Awards ceremony taking place later this month in London on November 23, in honour of his fashion film and photography which “continuously challenges the conventional notions of beauty,” the BFC said in a statement.

The British photographer has collaborated with feted designers such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Yohji Yamamoto, as well as working on advertising briefs for numerous fashion brands including Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Lancôme, Swarovski, Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent, while his cutting-edge imagery has been published in AnOther, i-D, Vogue, V Magazine and W magazines.

Knight is also a digital pioneer, launching online platform Showstudio in 2000 to showcase fashion film with the ethos to show the entire creative process from conception to completion. Live broadcasting has become a large part of Showstudio's output and recently the site has redefined fashion commentary and show criticism with its panel debates on the fashion industry.

Previous winners of the Isabella Blow Award include stylist and fashion editor Edward Enninful, Lady Amanda Harlech a creative consultant and muse of Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano, and Central St Martins Professor Louise Wilson.
