The world's major fashion capitals - London, Paris, Milan and New York - are cities that exude the epitome of style, showcasing the world's most renowned designer collections during their seasonal on schedule fashion shows. That said, there is a busy catwalk happening elsewhere, often in the most unlikely and unexpected of places.

Next time you travel to a far away, exotic destination, why not check out a local fashion show or presentation? Forget the glitz and glamour of the Big Four - for the experimental fashionista with a penchant for off schedule happenings, there is the Islamic Fashion Festival which showcases established and new designers from Malaysia and Indonesia, or perhaps the Peruvian catwalk held in Lima to commemorate the anniversary of Chinese migration to Peru, not to mention the newly organised Dominican Republic fashion week.

Then of course there are the worthy causes catwalks, such as the Miami-held Bullets 4 Peace fashion show in Florida, or a show to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Barbie during Philippine fashion week. All in all, there's a fashion holiday to be held without having to go you know where.
