Chambre Syndicale elects six new members

The Chambre Syndicale, French fashion’s governing body, has elected six new members to join its ranks: Courrèges, Ellery, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Paco Rabanne, Valentin Yudashkin and Yang Li.

Each designer brand was elected full-fledged members of the fashion governing body by the management board of the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt à Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode at a meeting held on June 3.

Membership is prestigious and offers the elected designers services including back office services and guaranteeing the brand’s time slot on the official show calendar, for an annual fee. Currently, the organisation has more than 100 members.

One of the most exciting additions is Ellery by Australian designer Kym Ellery, who graduated from Central Saint Martins and was awarded the Woolmark Award in 2010. The designer has been on the Paris Fashion Week schedule for a number of seasons, and for autumn/winter 2016 she debut her first ever denim and footwear lines.

Another highlight is French heritage brand Courrèges, which made its return to the catwalk under the direction of Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Valiant in September 2015. The LVMH Prize finalists have been placed in charge of reviving André Courrèges’s space-age label.
