Converse launches two sneakers in collaboration with Midnight Studios

Converse has invited Shane Gonzales, from fashion label Midnight Studios, to share his take on two iconic Converse models: Chuck 70 and One Star. Gonzales, who launched his brand in 2014 at the age of 19, combines punk and street style elements in his creations, in what he calls “an anti-aesthetic manner”.
Both sneakers seem unfinished at first glance. They are actually inverted inside out, exposing elements and materials that are usually hidden, such as duty tags.
Not even the iconic Chuck Taylor patch was spared: it is only featured on the inside of the shoe. Shoe laces featuring production model sentences complete the sneakers’ “unfinished” look.
“Taking those overlooked design aspects and bringing them to the outside, while repositioning the nicely finished and printed exterior to the inside, where it can only be seen off foot, is embedded in the attitude and emotion of the time," said Gonzales in a statement.
The Converse x Midnight Studios capsule collection is set to launch on June 15 at Converse.com and selected retailers worldwide. Prices were not disclosed.
