British luxury brand Daks has announced a collaboration with Giles Deacon, the darling of London Fashion Week. The ex-Bottega Veneta style maker has signed to create womenswear for Daks, beginning with the autumn/winter 2007-8 season, and will debut during February's London Fashion Week. "Giles Deacon is one of the most exciting designers working in London today and I am delighted that he is bring his talent to Daks," said Bruno Massa, Daks managing director. He further stated: "We are looking forward to watching Giles bring a new dimension to the concept of luxury British clothing."

Daks was established in 1894 and currently offers mens and womenswear, including tailoring, casualwear and accessories. The House, along with Burberry, is recognised as one of the leading British contemporary classic brands and holds three Royal Warrants. The history of Daks began when Simeon Simpson began a bespoke tailoring factory in East London, supplying high-end men's clothing stores. The word 'Daks,' was derived from the words 'Dad' and 'Slacks.' Giles Deacon stated: "Working with one of the great British design houses like Daks is an immense opportunity. I want to make British luxury relevant and modern, but remain true to the tailoring and quality that lies at the heart of Daks." Giles Deacon, who won Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards this year, is further designing a collaborative collection for high street retailer New Look. The collection is due in stores early Spring.
