Dealing with REACH seminar

Fashion retailers and suppliers must comply with REACH, the new EU legislation on chemicals. To help retailers, manufacturers and importers avoid criminal prosecution by falling foul of EU legislation relating to chemicals used in clothing, a seminar entitled Dealing with REACH has been arranged on 3 July 2008 at 5 Portland Place, London W1, by the key clothing industry trade associations. "All clothing and textile products contain chemicals, yet few companies are aware of them," says Adam Mansell, senior executive of organiser British Clothing Industry Association. "REACH, the new European legislation on the use of chemicals, is now in force and obliges companies selling clothing and textiles in the UK and in mainland Europe to ensure their products do not contain harmful chemicals.
Our seminar will assist companies by explaining how the legislation works, identifying the problem areas and providing a step by step guide on meeting obligations." Delegate places cost £120, plus VAT (£66 for members of the organising associations: British Clothing Industry Association, UK Fashion Exports and British Apparel & Textile Confederation).
Places can be booked by emailing contact@5portlandplace.co.uk; or calling Adam Mansell on 020 7636 7788. Booking forms can be downloaded from http://www.5portlandplace.org.uk/pdf/reach_BOOKING_FORM_sheet.pdf
