Footwear retailer Dolcis has been found guilty of selling a stiletto with a faulty heel, causing injuries to its wearer. A customer who bought the pair of shoes for £35 found herself with a snapped heel and in hospital with a broken ankle the first time she wore the strappy high-heeled sandal.
Although the case took three years to settle, Dolcis admitted the heel was faulty and the injuries caused to the owner were due to its manufacturing negligence. A Manchester Court fined the retailer £7200 of damages which could lead the way for hundreds of similar claims.
