Until 1st June 2010 talented fashion students across Europe can apply to the European Fashion Designer Competition 2010. Partly funded by Leonardo da Vinci, the competition is an action of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme.

The European Fashion Designer Competition is open to teams of 2-5 students studying fashion at levels 3 or 4 in a European educational institution and the winning team will have their garment constructed by a fashion house in Lithuania and presented at the famous Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Freemasons Hall in London’s Covent Garden. The winning garment will be shown during a catwalk show of London Fashion Week in September 2010.

Entries will be judged by the British designer Zandra Rhodes Studio and First Priority Apparel and Fashion House in Lithuania. The competition requires students to take their inspiration for a single garment design from the Medieval and Renaissance galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which opened in 2010.
