Fashion and architecture will meet at the Skin + Bones exhibition from 24th April until 10th August 2008. The exhibition coincides with the launch of new exhibition space the Embankment Galleries, Somerset House. Taking the 80s reference point for when fashion and architecture first met in a meaningful way, Skin + Bones illustrate how this period laid the ground works for many of today's designers and architects. Fashion was given a more intellectual approach by architecture, whilst architectural design became more playful, and technology influenced both industries.

Skin + Bones, shows more then 40 world renowned architects and designers featuring Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen. Over 200 exhibits of 'fashion' buildings and 'construct' garments will be on display. The exhibition zooms in on how clothing and architecture perform similar functions: providing shelter and promoting identity. The exhibition has travelled to Tokyo and Los Angeles, prior to its visit to Somerset House in London. Skin + Bones will include a special selection for the British capital including works by Boudicca, Martin Margiela and Hussein Chalayan.

The exhibition Skin+Bones: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture is organised by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
