Fashion Awards 2016 to honour Bruce Weber

London - The British Fashion Council is set to honour Bruce Weber with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator at the Fashion Awards 2016. The American photographer will be celebrated at this year's ceremony, taking place on December 5, at the Royal Albert Hall for his creative achievements within the global fashion industry.

Weber first rose to fame within the fashion industry when his photography was featured in GQ in the 1970s. Later on he went on to shot campaigns for the likes of Calvin Klein, Pirelli, Ralph Lauren and Versace. His signature stripped-down black and white photography aims to capture the essence of the moment and has been featured in magazines such as Elle, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and Vogue.

However, like many creators Weber has never held himself to one outlet and is constantly searching for new ways to explore his medium. This has resulted in films like Chop Suey , which aims to offer viewers a new type of introspection, while documentaries such as Broken Noses and A House Is Not A Home have earned him Oscar nominations and numerous international accolades. His books have also showcase how influential his work and his insight into the contemporary condition is.

To date Weber, has published over 37 books and hosted over 60 exhibitions across the globe. "Bruce’s endurance is testament to his pure talent, his undeniable creativity and his singular warmth and generosity," commented Dame Natalie Massenet, British Fashion Council Chairman. "His expansive body of work in photography and film is iconic, and he himself is rightly an icon of the creative fashion community. He is one of the foremost photographers and creative talents of our age who has helped shape the fashion industry we know today and I have a great deal of admiration for him."

In winning the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Weber follows in the footsteps previous winners, such as Nick Knight OBE, Edwards Enninful and Professor Louise Wilson. The Fashion Awards 2016 are set to honour the most talented and influential fashion insiders from the global fashion community.

The annual awards also mark inaugural yearly fundraiser gala for the British Fashion Council Education Foundation charity, which aims to raise 10 million pounds of the next ten years to sponsors scholarships and offer funding for apprenticeships.
