Contemporary womenswear brand Finery, co-founded by former Asos fashion director and Topshop buying director Caren Downie, is launching a collaboration collection designed by a line-up of “authentic” women, to mark its one-year anniversary.

The collection named ‘Forever Pieces’ consists of timeless designs including a leather jacket, sweatshirt, and jumpsuit, each designed by six women that are “each brilliant in their own field” and admired by the brand for their style, talent, and embodiment of the Finery spirit.

The collaboration features designs by actress Vicky McClure, DJ and presenter Alice Levine, journalist and author Polly Vernon, playwright Polly Stenham, stylist and AnOther Magazine senior fashion editor Agata Belcen, and Nicki Bidder, managing partner of Starworks Group.

Commenting on the women chosen for the brand’s first collaborative collection, Downie said: “This wasn’t about finding pretty faces and stratospheric numbers of Instagram followers. We chose to work with a group of women who know exactly who they are, and have strong ideas on how they like to dress.

“It’s important to us they are people we respect. Women we could value for themselves and what they do.”

Each woman has designed a piece of clothing that they would like to keep forever and would make a great wardrobe staple for the Finery customer. Actress McClure went for a “smart, loosely tailored” jumpsuit while Vernon went for a leather jacket, and Bidder opted for a sweatshirt.

The other designs include a “short, sweet and perfectly cut” tunic by Stenham, while Belcen opted for a pair of “well cut” trousers in a polka dot print, and Levine designed a Forever blouse with piecrust detailing to the shoulder, button placket and rear, finished with a contrasting neck tie.

When describing her blouse design, Levine, said: “I kind of like things with girlie touches and flourishes but I never like to feel too overly sexy.”

Downie added: “We wanted to ensure that the ‘Forever Pieces’ collection was fine tuned to what real women really require from their favourite pieces. So we are thrilled that all our collaborators are as excited as us to consider every detail of their pieces and make sure that design and wearability are the most perfect they can be.

“Fabric, colour, collar shape, button placement and size are just a few of the details that combine in unique ways to define a signature piece that you want to wear every day but is still special.”

The limited edition capsule collection is priced from 49 to 249 pounds and is available online at FineryLondon.com, as well as at Selfridges, Oxford Street, London.

In February, Finery revealed that its sales had hit 5 million pounds in its first year of trading, and opened concessions in six John Lewis department stores that it hopes will “accelerate awareness” of the brand.
