Trade show Premium has named London-based fashion label Fyodor Golan as the best young talent in womenswear at its annual Premium Young Designers’ Award held in Berlin.

Fyodor Golan, helmed by Fyodor Podgorny & Golan Frydman, impressed the judges with their “clean and geometric designs” inspired by sportswear to win the womenswear, and as winners received a free exhibition stand at Premium, along with advice on how to maintain a successful fashion business.

Premium founder and CEO Anita Tillmann said: “Supporting new talents has always been a cause dear to my heart. Every designer that wants to compete in the fashion industry on a global level needs long-term guidance and support. The Premium Young Designers Award was created to provide just this kind of platform.”

Danish label Mads Dinesen won the menswear accolade for its Scandinavian designs inspired by artists, dancers and musicians all over the world, while the accessories honour went to London College of Fashion graduate, Silke Debler for her line of bags, gloves and hats.

This year the trade show also gave out a new prize in the activewear category, a ‘season’s special’ award, which was awarded to active label No Ka ‘Oi, a brand rooted in “fashion, femininity and functionality”.

Commenting on the special award, Tillmann, added: “Activewear is the new trend of the season. Combined together with fashion pieces, this is the look seen on big cities’ streets.

“Eating well and staying active are of increasing importance in our society, and this lifestyle has already begun influencing many designers’ collections. We have sought out many new brands that are part of this trend, which we are presenting to the market for the first time this season.”

Each of the winners are also able to exclusively present their collections in the windows of the Galeries Lafayette Berlin.

Last year’s winners were three London-based designers, Louise Körner won the womenswear designer award, while menswear was presented to Na Di, and Jayne Hemsley’s label Hemsley London scooped the accessories honour.
