Georg Jensen x Zaha Hadid

Architect extraordinaire Zaha Hadid collaborated on a jewellery project with Danish silversmith Georg Jensen shortly before her untimely death, which is to launch in store this month.
Hadid's conceptual and futurist styling lent for many interesting projects outside her field, and resonated especially with the fashion industry, where she designed limited edition collections with Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
Hadid's collaboration with Georg Jensen has resulted in an eight piece capsule collection called the “Georg Jensen and Zaha Hadid Lamellae Collection," built around five statement rings and three cuffs, all inspired by one of Hadid’s most notable designs: the Wangjing Soho, a three-tower complex composed of curvaceous forms and contrasting linear garlands of light.
“Working with Georg Jensen presented an opportunity to express our ideas in different scales and through different media,” Hadid said, speaking about the collection earlier this year. “Our starting point was the many links to nature at Georg Jensen. There is an inherent integrity within the organic structural logic found in nature, and we often look at the coherence of natural systems when we work to create environments. Our challenge was to translate that into something that can be worn; to reinterpret the rich history and tradition of the Georg Jensen design approach into something new.”
Crafted in both sterling silver and sterling silver plated black rhodium set with black diamonds, the oversized pieces are punctuated by smooth flowing ribbon-like shapes that naturally alternate between a polished and matte effect, while the black rhodium lends a subtle gleam to the graphic, architectural forms.
