Midland-based sportswear retailer Gymshark is looking to target a wider customer base by becoming one of this year’s Clothes Show main sponsors.

It will mark the first time the sports brand has attended the consumer fashion and beauty event, held each year at the NEC Birmingham in December, however, the brand is looking to capitalise on the demand for its womenswear category, which it has seen grow by 100 percent over the past 12 months, against overall 50 percent year-on-year growth for the entire brand.

It’s this strong growth, predominately from female customers, and its ambitious plans for the next twelve months to begin to target a wider audience that has seen the sportswear brand sign up to the Clothes Show. Previously the brand had only attended sports and fitness expos like Body Power, LA Fit and the Arnold Classic in Melbourne, Australia.

Gymshark will showcase the brand’s bestselling lines, along with their autumn/winter 2016 capsule collection and will offer discounted prices for the duration of the Clothes Show.

Katie Watkinson, Gymshark women's trading manager said: “There is no longer a disconnect between fashion and fitness, women are looking for sportswear that is functional yet fashionable, exactly what Gymshark is all about.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for us to get out there and show everyone what we're about, at one of the most iconic and vibrant events in the industry.”

The Clothes Show takes place from December 2-6 at NEC Birmingham.
