Swedish fashion giant H&M took Tokyo by storm with the opening of its much anticipated first store. On Saturday 13th of September, the high street label opened the doors of its new flagship in shopping district Ginza. The opening of the store began with a ribbon cut by CEO Rolf Eriksen and Christine Edman, H&M’s country manager in Japan, which led the 5000 people who queuing to view the new store. A reception party held on September 11th, prominent figures of the fashion press, creators, celebrities, gathered together to celebrate the launch.

“It has been H&M’s dream to open in Japan. I am therefore very proud to say that we now have our first store in Tokyo. Japan is a strategic and exciting market with great fashion awareness. We hope that we can offer our Tokyo customers added value through fashion and quality at the best price”, says Rolf Eriksen, CEO H&M.

H&M Ginza has approximately 1000 ? of sales area over four floors, from basement to 3rd floor, stocking Womens, Mens, and Accessories. Today there are around 1,600 H&M stores in 32 countries.
