H&M x Kenzo: H&M taps Kenzo for its designer collection 2016

London - Fans of Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M annual designer collaboration will be pleased to hear the next designer brand tapped for the initiative is none other than Kenzo.
“Kenzo, the vibrant and playful Parisian house that captures the energy of global culture to create its unique, youthful spirit,” said the company in a statement on the brand. Founded in 1970, in Paris, France by Kenzo Takada, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon were appointed Artistic Directors in 2011. Since their appointment, the design duo have been credited with breathing new life into the brand, taking the industry by storm with a certain tiger face sweatshirt which went on to become something of a fashion statement.

“He was the first Asian designer to come into Paris and design for women,” said Lim on the founder on hm.com. “Kenzo really created a new way for women to dress.” His designs were full of colour, patterns and unique silhouettes, a certain spirit both Lim and Leon have translated into their own collections for the brand. “We wanted to really tell the story of the brand and us,” said Leon on the collaboration. “Together with H&M, we will invite all the customers and fans to the real Kenzo world.
The duo aims to bring the brand’s spirit to life with H&M in a collaborative collection for both men and women. Similar to other designer collaborations, the range will feature clothing as well as accessories, which will offer the design duo’s own aesthetics and preference for bold colours and vivid prints. "With this collaboration with H&M we want to think big, push the boundaries and bring the new energy of Kenzo to everyone around the world,” added Lim and Leon.
“We can’t wait to share with everyone the world of Kenzo x H&M, with all of its creativity, fun and love of fashion,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M. Kenzo x H&M is set to launch in over 250 selected H&M stores across the globe, as well as online on November 3, 2016. Prices for the collection have yet to be revealed.
