Hand & Lock Prize adds award

Aimed at promoting the use of hand embroidered surface embellishment within the fashion design and manufacturing industries, Hand & Lock introduces an Open Category to the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery 2009. The student prize has been running for 8th years and now decided to introduce an open category for embroiderers from all backgrounds.

Winners of both the student and open category will receive $10, 000 USD. There are also $5, 000 USD worth of Swarovski Crystallized products, free membership to the Embroiderers Guild and other prizes such as the $1, 700 USD Madeira Prize for Colleges. The Prize encourages a new generation of embroiderers and designers to create contemporary design, and fresh approaches for embroidery, that can be matched up with the high quality and expertise expected at professional and commercial levels

Hand & Lock is an embroidery brand, resulting from the fusion of two established embroidery businesses. M. Hand has been producing the finest gold and silver wire since 1767; S. Lock's great strength is wonderful bead and tambour work for fashion and royalty since 1898.

Registration for the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery 2009 is now open. Entries will be accepted until March 31st, 2009.
