Luxury department store Harvey Nichols opens its sixth UK outlet today in Bristol city centre. The 35,000sq ft store embraces the boutique  format first used in Dublin and offers an edited selection of fashion, food and beauty over three floors.

Created by French interior designer Christian Biecher, who was also responsible for the Dublin and Hong Kong stores, the new Harvey Nichols takes its inspiration from the vibrant Bristol music scene.

Using a mixture of textures and tones throughout, the store's key design feature is a black chrome-look cutout metal screen, which rises up through the three storey space.

Marketing director Julia Bowe said: "The Bristol store provides the perfect edit of the hottest luxury and niche brands from the international catwalks, in shoes, accessories and designerwear. At 35,000sq ft, it is the perfect fashion iPod of everything that is fun and fashionable."

To promote the opening Harvey Nichols has teamed up with local Oscar-winning animator Nick Park and his creations Wallace and Gromit. In the ads, Wallace ditches his string vest and tank top to model clothing by brands including Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani.
