As tradition prescribes, the G-Star Fashion Show will be performed several times during the fair days.

G-Star’s core design philosophy has remained unchanged for twenty years; ‘Just the Product.’ This uncompromising approach is underlined in the 2010 Spring/Summer collection to be shown at this year’s BREAD & BUTTER BERLIN fashion show.

Highlights will include: G-Star’s latest re-imagining of a classic design icon – the denim skirt; further development of three dimensional denim architecture – creating new, distinctive jean silhouettes; the expansion of the Correct Line range – bringing sharp, edgy tailoring to the summer wardrobe; the Midnight collection – a range of elegant evening wear and P.T. Army – rugged, military inspired sportswear.

The 2010 Spring/Summer collection – rolling out as off November 2009 – continues the development of G-Star’s traditional approach, further exploring the dynamic fusion between contemporary denim luxury and street level edge.

Historical large objects from the Allied Museum at Tempelhof airport

During BREAD & BUTTER, the Allied Museum will display large objects and signs from its collection dedicated to the history of the Western forces in Berlin from 1945 to 1994, which up till now have been virtually inaccessible to the public.

BREAD & BUTTER, in cooperation with the Allied Museum, proudly presents the special exhibition “Hidden Secrets. The Allied Museum at Tempelhof airport” in the L.O.C.K. area in Hangar 7. The large objects on show are an impressive demonstration of the explosiveness of the political and military situation in post-war Berlin. British and French reconnaissance vehicles for example were employed to patrol along the Berlin Wall.  The American helicopter “Spirit of Steinstücken” flew in regular supplies to the exclave of the same name in the outskirts of the Berlin borough of Zehlendorf, since the exclave was completely cut off from the American sector following the building of the Berlin Wall on 13 August 1961. The British parade vehicle was used by the three commanders-in-chief of the Allied Armed Forces and Berlin mayor Eberhard Diepgen in June of 1994 as the Western Forces bade farewell to the city.

The presentation of the large objects is accompanied by an exhibition of different-sized signs typical of the Berlin cityscape that were used by the Western powers until 1994. The Allied Museum has taken it up as their responsibility to document the role of the Western powers and their commitment to Berlin and Germany in the years 1945 to 1994.

We would like to express our thanks to the Allied Museum for the realisation of the exhibition.

LIVE MUSIK IM LUNA PARK

We rock & you rock!

We like to end each tradeshow day with a musical treat. Look forward to live concerts in the evenings on the BREAD & BUTTER stage at Luna Park!

On Wednesday we offer pure sound pleasure with Jazzanova. This six-man club collective is an internationally celebrated pioneer in the genres Dancefloor, NuJazz, Broken Beat, modern Folk and Soul.

On Thursday the British Indie band Eight Legs will take the stage. These boys from Stratford-upon-Avon are known for their raw sound and the laconic Cockney accent of lead singer Sam Jolly. The band made a name for itself as the sound backdrop for the catwalk show for fashion house Dior.

Peter Wiegand & Combo

With his deep, melancholy, rasping voice, Peter Wiegand is known as the Austrian Tom Waits. In his songs he speaks of life, sometimes poetically, sometimes pithily, and he’s both wise and ironic.

Musically speaking, his work is just as varied: swing competes with songs from Vienna, indie rock meets polkas, and funeral marches meet punk.

Location: SilverWings Club @ THF, on the left next to the main Tempelhof airport entrance 08:00 p.m.
